MARBLE COFFEE TABLES - IS THIS A GOOD IDEA?

The fact that the fashion for marble coffee tables has been going on for a long time is probably not a special secret for anyone. The timeless elegance as well as the slightly exclusive nature of marble are issues that are beyond the slightest doubt. Some scepticism, however, is raised by issues related to the functionality of this solution. Are marble countertops practical in everyday use and - last but not least - is it difficult to keep them clean and in perfect condition for many years? No, the daily care of marble countertops is neither time-consuming nor labour-intensive. It is enough to be systematic and react quickly in the event of more dirt. Here are some basic rules for caring and cleaning marble surfaces - if you follow them, you can be sure that your dream marble table will stay with you for a long time.

HOW TO CARE FOR MARBLE COUNTERTOPS EVERY DAY?

It is better to prevent than to cure - although this rule applies to health, its meaning is much more universal. It can also be successfully used in the context of how to care for marble countertops on a daily basis. First of all, it is worth limiting the risk of stains and discoloration. For this purpose, it is enough to obtain coasters for cups and glasses as well as table coasters. If you use them every day, the risk of your table or coffee table with a marble top getting dirty will be much lower. The pads not only isolate the marble from high temperatures, but also in the event of any wine or coffee spills, you will have a bit more time to remove the dirt before the liquid has time to penetrate the countertop and not very aesthetic stains appear on it.

HOME WAYS TO REMOVE DIRT FROM MARBLE SURFACES

Don't know how to remove stains from a marble countertop? Home remedies for cleaning marble are already coming with help, the advantage of which is not only that they are effective and safe for marble surfaces, but also do not involve high costs, and in addition, you probably have everything you need for them. day. How to remove marble stains? For this purpose, you can use distilled water or a solution based on water and baking soda (preferably in the proportion of 2-3 flat tablespoons of soda to 250 ml of water). You can also try to remove more difficult stains with freshly squeezed lemon juice. In this case, however, it is worth being vigilant - due to its quite caustic properties, lemon juice should not come into contact with the marble countertop for more than 1-2 minutes. Otherwise, the citric acid may penetrate too much into the countertop, causing its permanent discoloration. Remember that after each wetting the marble countertop, you should carefully dry its surface with a soft cloth.

WHAT CAN I CLEAN MARBLE? IT IS WORTH AVOIDING THESE MEASURES!

The use of mild detergents as well as special agents for cleaning marble surfaces are of course acceptable, but it is worth getting acquainted with their composition a bit before buying them. Preparations with chlorine should not be used to clean marble surfaces, so it is better to be careful with universal cleansing milks - most of them have this substance in their composition. It is also not recommended to use preparations with an admixture of silicone derivatives. Also pay attention to what you are wiping and dry-wiping marble countertops - avoid brushes as well as the rough side of kitchen scourers, which can lead to permanent scratches on the countertop.

IMPREGNATION OF MARBLE COUNTERTOPS - IS IT WORTH IT? Are you wondering how to impregnate marble? In the first place, it would be better to ask yourself if impregnating marble countertops at home is really a good idea. It just so happens that opinions on this matter are very divided. Why? There are advantages and disadvantages to impregnating marble. A lot will also depend here on the room in which the marble top is located and for what purposes it is used. A marble countertop in the bathroom? Of course, systematic impregnation is advisable - the impregnation will not only protect against moisture (and the bathroom is a room with a higher degree of humidity), but will increase the resistance of the countertop to abrasion and even mechanical damage. A marble top in the kitchen or a table with a marble top in the dining room or living room? Not necessarily. Marble impregnation preparations are quite strong agents, so it is worth considering their use in the case of countertops that may come into contact with food.
